A recent retailer survey from Retail Systems Research (RSR), titled “Keeping Up with the Mobile Consumer,” (http://alturl.com/ufm47) indicated that although retailers are aware of mobile’s importance in boosting customer loyalty and ROI, overall implementation is lagging.
Key findings regarding sentiment vs. actual implementation are as follows:
- Gap of 48% between 83% of retailers who said a search-for-merchandise capability is vital to a mobile strategy and 35% who have implemented;
- Gap of 35% between 61% of respondents think providing access to product reviews is key versus 26% who have implemented;
- Gap of 31% between 63% of retailers who indicated the ability to receive coupons/offers is important for mobilized shopper versus 32% who have implemented;
- Gap of 30% between 55% of retailers who believe “check order status” features are vital for an optimal mobile experience versus 25% who have implemented;
- Gap of 28% between 76% of reteilers who said they believe store locator features are very important versus 48% who have implemented;
- Gap of 24% between 53% of retailers who said it is important to provide tech-savvy shoppers with the ability to redeem coupons and offers via their mobile device versus 29% who have implemented and
- Gap of 23% between 54% of retailers who think providing access to product ratings is imperative versus 31% who implemented
